The Treasure Coast area is well known for its sun and beaches. But it is also the birthplace of some very successful people from all walks of life. There are famous TV personalities, authors and athletes from the area. Let’s take a look at a few prominent individuals from the Stuart area.
James Gould Cozzens, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Guard of Honor. He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1903 and passed away in 1978. He resided in Stuart, FL. He wrote about the life of middle-class America, and his writings are often compared to John O’Hara and John Marquand. He also authored the novels Cockpit (1928) and the Son of Perdition (1929).
Corey McIntyre is a professional football player from Stuart Florida. He attended Indiantown Middle School and South Fork High School. He left Florida to play college football in West Virginia, and he played for several NFL teams during his years in the league. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cleveland Browns, the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and the Buffalo Bills through the 2012 season.
Derek Fathauer, a professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour, He and his twin brother, Daryl were the first twins to play in a PGA Tour event in 2007. Fathauer was born in January of 1986 and attended Martin County High School in Stuart, FL.

He enjoyed a very successful year in 1997 when he finished second on tour. Subsequent seasons were not so successful. He earned his 2011 Champions Tour card and is the Director of Golf at the Emerald Dunes Club in West Palm Beach.
